ComForcare Senior Services of Greater Baton Rouge

Mary Flasch BS, MPA, RRT, CSAComForcare Senior Services of Greater Baton Rouge continues
to provide the most comprehensive elder care services in the area. Since opening for business in 2003, ComForcare continues to work very hard to provide for all the non-medical needs of the elderly and adults with disabilities.

The President, Mary Flasch, has a pre-med undergraduate degree, a Master of Public administration, and doctoral courses in human resource development and training. As a licensed Respiratory Therapist, Mary focused on pulmonary rehabilitation and durable medical equipment. Her goal and training targets methods to keep people safe and happy without being institutionalized.

Mary works very hard to provide optimal training and screening for her caregivers. Prior to hiring a caregiver, testing, reference checks, interviews, background checks, medical, and drug testing are conducted. Orientation includes back safety, infection control, ethics, recognition of abuse/neglect, and transfers, etc. All caregivers are trained to recognize fall hazards, medication errors, and safety inspections. Any concern is documented and brought to the office who discusses issues with the family. Plans are made to correct problematic areas for the continued well being of the client.

ComForcare constantly evaluates the needs in the community to develop new service categories. Current adaptations include one and two hour shifts, rather that the usual minimum of 4 hours. Families were concerned that their loved ones were not eating lunch or taking noon meds, and the one hour shifts were quite appealing and less costly.

Case Management for persons with families outside the area allows for continuity of care and decreased anxiety for everyone. Registered Nurse evaluations for insurance claims and care plan updates are provided without charge to clients. ComForcare also offers the added benefit of filing insurance claims and insures all necessary documentation and forms are included for successful reimbursement.

ComForcare provides anywhere from 1 to 24 coverage. Someone is always on call to cover shifts and insure caregivers arrive and perform as expected.
